Established by Elizabeth & Miko Crotty, after they got married, Elizabeth was a famous concertina player & the tradition of Irish music still lives on to this day in Crotty's.
This lovely pub in Co. Clare is a perfect mix of simple yet elegant design.I love the cosy feel to this pub with its warm rich red & green walls, rich dark coloured timbers divided into a series of rooms.
Ornate Victorian style tiles adorn a few sections of the pub, well worn & used by many tapping feet, they give instant colour & vibrancy to the areas they are in.These Victorian style tiles are still available today & they are a lovely addition to any pub adding decoration & detail, you can keep everything else simple when you have such a beautiful floor. The back bar & bar counter is simple with curved arches overhead, most of the woodwork detailing in this pub is simple, although this pub has a Victorian feel it is also simple in detail.Dark tongued & grooved wall panelling is to be found through out, contrasting beautifully against the richly coloured patterned tiles & rich wall hues. The tongued & grooved detail is also to be found in the rich cream ceiling panelling in the corner bar. The heavily mirrored walls in this bar reflect light & again create a great contrast between the dark timbers & ornate tiling.
There are snugs in the window area of both bars, the smaller snug belongs to the corner bar & is accessed from the entrance lobby, great for if you really didn't want to be seen in the pub!!!This snug is glazed on two access to the bar counter is thru a simple door / hatch in a panelled divider, a simple bench seat runs the window side of the snug & again beautiful tiles decorate the floor. The snug in the other bar is larger more open to the bar area & has more comfortable seating, again it is a cosy nook to gather in!
I love the simplicity & honesty of this pub & the floor tiles....how I LOVE those floor tiles!!!

One of Irelands bets pubs for traditional music sessions, this pubs owner, Matt Molloy is a famous Irish Musician, having played with The Chieftains amongst other famous Irish musicians.
I love its distinctive exterior colour scheme of red, white, black & gold rich, warm & inviting. The shopfront design is simple with two gorgeous window displays inviting you inside.Inside a lovely cosy, interior awaits with lots of little nooks & crannies. Warm painted timber panelling & lots of unusual shelving create a quirky interior.I love the contrast of the cream painted timber with the darker timbers & bar front, simple rustic furniture is well worn & used. The bar area leads out to the rustic yard bar, an existing yard which has been covered in & is now a great space for traditional music sessions. This bar on weekends is always packed to the rafters & no wonder... it has a lovely atmosphere, lots of great music & good Guinness!!
